Complete CSA T20 Challenge Centuries List

The 2024 CSA T20 Challenge began on 8th March 2024 but prior to that, this tournament has been going on since the 2004 season. It’s one of the oldest T20 regional franchise competitions in the world and it’s obvious that there is going to be a rich history associated with it too, with several batting, bowling, and fielding records being set over the years.

On this page, we’re going to explore some of the top batting records in South Africa’s CSA T20 Challenge. In particular, we’re diving into every century scored by batsmen in the CSA T20 tournament. This includes the batsman who got there, his total score, the team he represented, and the date he got his century. Keep reading for our complete CSA T20 Challenge hundreds list…

In terms of the total number of centuries, there have been only 20 individual centuries in the tournament’s history of 20 seasons. Most of them have been scored by South African local players, with the exception of hundreds from the bats of West Indies’ Chris Gayle and England’s Kevin Pietersen, the latter doing so on two occasions in only 12 career games here.

Former South African international Loots Bosman was the first to enter the CSA T20 hundreds list, getting there for the Eagles (now Knights) in the 2005 season itself. As compared to the IPL and PSL in India and Pakistan respectively, we see fewer centuries in the CSA T20 Challenge. The most number of individual CSA T20 hundreds in a single season came in the CSA T20 Challenge 2019 season where four (4) hundreds were scored, while three were scored in the 2014 and 2015 seasons each.

Quinton de Kock’s 126(69)* scored in the CSA T20 Challenge 2013 season was the highest individual score in the league for many years, until youngster Dewald Brevis came and announced himself in the competition, with a whopping score of 162 in only 57 deliveries; he hit 13 fours and 13 sixes at a strike rate of 284+ in that innings and we don’t think his score will be beaten anytime soon.

Only two batsmen have gone on to get multiple entries into the CSA T20 Challenge centuries and those are JJ Smuts and Kevin Pietersen, both of them having two CSA T20 centuries each. Overall, More van Wyk leads the run scoring charts in this tournament, but we’re likely to see changes there soon as the keeper-batsman is now retired from the game.
