Here’s a story of an Ahmedabad born boy in Priyank Kirit Panchal, who amassed more than 14,000 career runs in the Indian domestic circuit across List A, T20, and the First Class formats. This includes 29 FC centuries and 8 List A centuries, and a massive highest score of 314*, representing the Gujarat state side over the years.
That boy is no longer a boy, now aged 35 years old and calling time on his career in India in Feb 2025, with an intention to pursue other cricketing endeavours outside the country. Earlier this month, we saw him represent India in the Hong Kong International Sixes 2025 tournament, and now made a major impact on his Nepal Premier League 2025 debut.

Priyank Panchal scores 90 on NPL 2025 debut
Last year, former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan became the first Indian to get a fifty in the Nepal Premier League and now, Priyank Panchal became the second with his whirlwind known of 90(48) on the second day of the NPL 2025 season. It began on 17th Nov 2025 and Panchal’s team, Karnali Yaks, was in action in NPL 2025 Match 2 earlier today.

With 7 fours and 6 sixes, Panchal scored at a strike rate of nearly 190 and announced himself on NPL 2025 debut, allowing Yaks to get to 166/3 in their 20 overs, falling narrowly short of his century after being dismissed by England’s Ravi Bopara. However, no one else from his side partnered with him to make any valuable contributions, with Pawan Sarraf’s 27* being the next highest score.

He wasn’t ever picked to play for India, though he made the squad a few times and even represented the A team on multiple occasions. Today, he showed his batting prowess against the Chitwan Rhinos but unfortunately, his contribution wasn’t enough to get his team over the line, as the opposition completed the chase in the final over.

After picking up the important wicket of Panchal with the ball, Ravi Bopara then scored 52(36) and this match-winning knock made the difference as the Rhinos started their NPL 2025 season on a winning note, registering a 4-wicket victory with 5 balls to spare in the chase. As for Panchal, we expect to see many more such fireworks from him in the days to come.

Prior to this, Panchal had a top score of 79 in 59 T20 career games, so it wasn’t just a good NPL debut but also his career best T20 score, which he will remember for some time to come.
