WTC Final 2023 – Marnus Labuschagne Snoozes Before Batting

There’s never a dull moment when Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is batting but sometimes, he’s super entertaining off the field as well. Keeping aside his batting prowess, he’s got a wide range of expressions and is always so involved in the game, which makes him a crowd favourite at all times, wherever he plays across the world.

Today on Day 3 of the WTC Final 2023 against India, he was in the news once again, this time without even being on the field. David Warner and Usman Khawaja went out to bat after Australia got India out cheap and the former secured a 173-run lead in the 1st innings. Right about that time, a camera panned on Labuschagne who was spotted having a little snooze at the team balcony in London.

As soon as these images of Labuschagne sleeping showed on the big screen and televisions across the world, a wicket went. The very next ball, Mohammed Siraj picked up the wicket of David Warner, caught behind by wicket-keeper KS Bharat. It was an important breakthrough that took the Aussies to 2/1 in the 2nd innings, and the crowd naturally went wild.

Labuschagne needed no alarm as the crowd was super loud, which meant he woke up instantly and jumped from his quick nap, standing upright and realising his team had lost a wicket. He walked out to the middle and the commentators had a good time watching the replay, while the batter took his time to get settled at the crease before playing his first ball.
