Just a few hours ago, we spoke about the historic achievement of getting 10 wickets in an innings which was achieved by New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel in the 2nd Test against India in Mumbai. He got all the wickets to fall and became only the third person in the history of Test cricket to achieve this milestone. One of them was his New Zealand teammate James Neesham who is known who his continuous tweets on a number of matters. Today, he took to his Twitter handle to share a WhatsApp group conversation among himself and other New Zealand teammates on Ajaz’s achievement. The screenshot shows everyone’s excitement and also that Neesham called the record 3 hours before it happened.
He obviously blurred out mobile numbers but seeing the way the others in the group reacted shows what a great achievement it is, to pick all ten wickets in an innings. Only the greats like Jim Laker and Anil Kumble had done it in the past and when 6 wickets had gone down, that’s when Neesham predicted that the Laker record stands to be contested today. And indeed, Patel went on to create history.

Popularly known as ‘Jazz’ among his teammates, they all were supporting him virtually. Neesham called it saying “Jim laker looking nervous” while another person in the group chat said that he/she will have Jazz’s babies if he goes on to get 10 wickets. And the excitement escalated quickly when he went on to get the 10th and final wicket. The tweet was quick to be deleted by Neesham.
