Wimbledon 2022: Harmony Tan Gets Breezy Win Over Katie Boulter

We’ve been seeing some great action across the nets at Wimbledon 2022 in both men’s as well as women’s competitions. Today, we witnessed a very one-sided game at the WTA tournament where an upset was caused but the crowds enjoyed every single minute of this Round 3 game in London.

We’re talking about the Harmony Tan vs Katie Boulter game which was one everyone was looking forward to for multiple reasons. Firstly, Tan had become a little bit of a crowd favourite as she’s come here and caused a few upsets, unseeded in this tournament. And Boulter is a local player from UK itself, so the crowd was behind her too.

Wimbledon 2022: Harmony Tan Gets Breezy Win Over Katie Boulter

Harmony Tan beats Katie Boulter

The 24-year old French professional tennis player wrapped up this game within less than an hour. She beat Boulter 6-1, 6-1 on her Wimbledon debut and she breezed through this Round 3 game in straight sets. Boulter was the favourite coming into this game and not many would’ve expected her to be back in the dressing room within just 51 minutes!

For those who don’t know yet, Tan has been having a dream run in this edition of Wimbledon 2022 which is her first time here too. She beat multiple time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams in Round 1 and then took down number #32 seed Sara Sorribes Tormo in Round 2, only to breeze past Boulter in the third round.

She has a career high single’s WTA ranking of 90 and highest double’s ranking of 302 but it’s sure to bump up after this maiden outing performance in Wimbledon. She’s set to play against the winner of the game between #11 seed Coco Gauff and number #20 seed Amanda Anisimova, and she’ll fancy her chances in that game as well.

The British player Boulter beat Clara Burel in her first game and had a great game against number #6 seed Karolina Pliskova in the second round, which means she was on a good run too. And after coming back from losing that first set against Pliskova to win the game, we were expecting a bigger and better fight from her today, but it wasn’t to be.

She was enjoying her tennis, playing with a smile on her face and not putting a single step wrong in this game. She was all smiles at the post game interview as well, where she said she still can’t believe how well she’s playing. She added that maybe some sleep and when she wakes up, it may feel more real to her.
