US Open 2022 – Men’s & Women’s Seeds Tracker

US Open 2022 top seeded players

We all love our tennis here at Read Scoops and especially so when there’s a grand slam at large. Four of these tournaments take place each year on the tennis calendar and here, we’re set for the fourth and final slam of the year. It’s the 2022 US Open (see dates and schedule) and everyone will be wanting to end their year on a high, in both the ATP and WTA competitions.

It’s been a topsy-turvy year for the women’s circuit so far with may winners and potential winners too, with the top seeds rarely making it through, with #17 seed Elena Rybakina winning the recent Wimbledon 2022. Among the men, its mostly the top ones in action as Rafael Nadal won two slams this year and after being forced out of Wimbledon semi final with injury, Novak Djokovic won in London.

What are seeds in tennis?

In order to arrive at a fair system of rankings based on results, current form, and world ranking, the seeds system was introduced in tennis. This ensures that the top players don’t play each other in the first few stages itself, and the seeds system is especially used in knockout format tournaments like how we have here. Commercially too, fans and sponsors don’t want to see the top players heading out in the early stages.

Seeds are thus designed in such a way that if all goes as per plan and there aren’t any shock defeats or upsets, the #1 and #2 players will square off in the final of the tournament. For more updates on US Open 2022, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
