6 Jan 2022: World’s top men’s player Novak Djokovic has been publicly opposing vaccinations since last year but now, he’s got into trouble for it as he’s been disallowed entry in Australia. While he got a medical exemption, he didn’t apply for the right Visa and has held up at Melbourne airport. Will he play in the 2022 Australian Open now? Twitter votes:

2 Jan 2022: Serena Williams was already ruled out of the 2022 Australian Open with a hamstring injury but late in the hour, her sister Venus Williams also pulled out of the trip down under. Ranked outside the top 300 in the world right now, the 41-year old needed a wildcard entry to play and she dropped out, making it the first time since 1997 that both sisters will miss an Australian Open. 1 Jan 2022: While India is not known to do well in these grand slam tournaments, we had one contender in the Australian Open men’s juniors tournament, in 17-year old Aman Dahiya. However, he was ruled out of the tournament because he didn’t comply with the organisers’ vaccination rules, and couldn’t get an exception either. Read the full story here.

27 Dec 2021: In the women’s tournament, it’s not so straightforward because there are a number of contenders to win the Aus Open 2022 title. Among them are Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka who are joint favourites but let’s not forget Aryna Sabalenka who made the semi finals in the last two majors, and the US Open 2021 champion, Emma Raducanu.
