Watch This 53-Shot Rally At US Open 2021!

Tennis never fails to surprise us and we usually get to see some of the most exhilarating and intense action when the bigger tournaments take place, like the Grand Slams. US Open 2021 was one such tournament which saw upsets, success stories, the greatest of points and rallies, and quite a few heartbreaks as well. Today, we’re going to tell you about one of the best rallies we witnessed in the tournament.

Usually, the action heats up as we move into the business stages of the tournament and that’s what happened here as well, in Semi Final 2 of the men’s tournament. World number #1 and the top seed for US Open 2021 Novak Djokovic was in action against German #4 seed Alexander Zverev with the two tied at 1-set each and the latter serving to stay in the set.

Zverev was behind 15-40 on serve and every point in this final game of the third set turned out to be a thrilling one. The rallies were all 15 shots and above and in this particular point, both players brought out their best game each. What we witnessed was an unbelievable 53-shot rally which ultimately ended in a forehand winner from the German player.

Both players were visibly tired halfway through the rally but they both knew how important the point was in context to the game, and they kept pushing themselves. The crowd and commentators also got into it as the rally went on and on and on. Zverev was hitting them hard and deep while Djokovic was trying the cuts and slices and spins and everything else he could think so.

Eventually, Zverev pulled off a blinder and took the score to 30-40 but he ended up losing the next point and went down 1-2 in sets in this important semi final. After that, both players needed a minute to catch their breath and it just goes to show the high level of tennis you can expect when two top players clash in a Grand Slam!
