Will James Pattinson Get Game Time for Mumbai Indians?

We have just about 2 weeks to go before the start of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) and so far, we’re seeing players dropping out like a pack of cards as the tournament nears closer each day. We’ve had top players like Jason Roy and Suresh Raina drop out while there are even talks of Ben Stokes missing the tournament due to personal reasons.

Will James Pattinson Get Game Time for Mumbai Indians?

Another player who recently pulled out of the tournament due to ‘personal reasons’ is Mumbai Indians’ Lasith Malinga who is not just the highest wicket taker in the history of the IPL but is also one of the highest wicket-takers in T20 cricket itself across the globe. Quite a big blow for the defending champions, isn’t it?

As a replacement, they went on to sign Aussie pacer James Pattinson and while Pattinson has been known to be a hostile bowler in the past, we don’t really see him as much of a threat to opponents for IPL 2020. Hell, we don’t even think he’ll get much of game time because he’s in a squad which is packed with top quality players!

Previously, Pattinson was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders set up for IPL 2011 and 2012 but there too, he didn’t have much if work to do. Their overseas pacers include Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile, while they also have plenty of Indian pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and the others. Thus, we feel Pattinson may be warming the bench for most of this season!
