ENG vs AUS 2020 – 1st T20I Fantasy Preview

One of the toughest teams in the world, Australia is out on a tour of England between 28 Aug – 16 Sep and now that they’ve completed their quot of 4 warm up games, they’re set to take on their rivals in a series of 3 T20Is followed by 3 ODIs. England recently finished a 3-match T20 series against Pakistan and the series ended 1-1 after one of the matches was called off due to bad weather.

Australia come in with more preparation than the Pakistani team and we have reason to believe that they’ll pose a grave threat against the home side who have once again ignored some of the top names like Joe Root, Ben Stokes and more. All 3 games will be played at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. Keep reading for our complete Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy preview of the ENG vs AUS 1st T20I…

England

The hosts have strengthened their bowling attack by including the likes of Mark Wood and Jofra Archer who are among the fastest bowlers in world cricket at the moment. Take out the gentle medium pacers of Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory and this becomes a deadly duo with the ball. Wood recently expressed his frustration at being dropped easily and he’ll be looking at making a point on return to the team.

With the bat, the youngster Tom Banton was the hero in the recent Pakistan series with starts in all games and he’s been super consistent with Somerset over the last couple of years too, so should be in your ENG vs AUS 1st T20 fantasy team. With 3 wicket-keepers in the side, all will be looking to prove themselves and I think Jonny Bairstow is in the best position to do so, with a score of 60* in his only previous T20I at this ground.

Australia

The visitors are also playing 3 wicket-keepers but the leader from them seems to be Alex Carey who did well int he warmup games including scores of 15, 50* and 107 in the last T20 so he’s expected to be in the middle order, as Warner and captain Finch are likely to open the innings. Aaron Finch would be a better pick as Warner got scores of 34, 0 and 1 in his 3 practice innings after coming to England.

With 7 wickets in the three practice games and also a fifty in the 50-over warmup, Andrew Tye is someone worth including in your Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team though there have been talks of him being less effective in recent years. I’d also like to have someone like Daniel Sams in my team if he makes the playing eleven, since he can contribute with both bat and ball!
