WATCH: Oliver Davies Smashes 5 Consecutive Sixes

It’s always fun to watch Boxing Day cricket and it doesn’t get any better if your favourite sports teams are smashing sixes all over the park. That’s exactly what happened in the 2020/21 Big Bash League during the Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades game at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

WATCH: Oliver Davies Smashes 5 Consecutive Sixes

Batting first, Sydney Thunder was off to a fabulous start due to Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja and to take advantage of that start, we had the 20-year old Oliver Davies who walked in. Now not many would’ve backed this youngster sporting a Rambo-like hairstyle to do what he did next, even though he has a good reputation from domestic cricket.

Batting with his captain Callum Ferguson, Davies suddenly decided it was time to take the attack to the Renegades, and it was Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi who ended up on the receiving end. Having conceded singles off the first couple of deliveries, Nabi would’ve not expected the hammering he was about to get in the 12th over, as he went for 6, 6, 6, 6 in the last 4 balls of the over.

Post that, Davies decided to continue the carnage as he faced Will Sutherland in the next over. His first ball against Sutherland was deposited over deep square leg with a lovely pull shot. There was talk of him having some Caribbean heritage and that was all on display during this big hitting. See the final maximum here:

However, this isn’t the first time he’s done such massive hitting. The youngster has also smashed 6 sixes in an over in the past in the domestic circuit and he’s an exciting prospect for the future. Fans on Twitter have already begun tagging IPL franchises to take a look at him for upcoming seasons. For more updates, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
