Wanindu Hasaranga to Join RCB For Rest of IPL 2021

Every year, we feel a lot of excitement with the start of a new Indian premier League (IPL) season and this year, we’re lucky to have witnessed that twice. A few months ago, IPL 2021 kicked off and because of an outbreak of coronavirus, there was the need to postpone the tournament. The rest of IPL 2021 is now set to be continued and finished in the UAE, starting 19th September 2021.

Players are already heading out to UAE to complete their quarantine and start training with the camps, and as we build up to the tournament, the IPL 2021 transfer window is open again. With the schedule being changed, a lot of players now have other commitments and just a few hours back, we spoke about Nathan Ellis joining Punjab Kings for the remainder of the IPL 2021 season in UAE.

Now, we have some changes announced in the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp. Possibly have made the best start to an IPL season in their franchise history so far, RCB is on top of their game but will lose a few players for the rest of IPL 2021. One of these changes includes Dushmantha Chameera replacing Kane Richardson, while Tim David has also been signed on in place of Finn Allen.

A management change also came in with Simon Katich stepping down and Mike Hesson taking over as Head Coach of RCB for the rest of the season. Now, their biggest signing has come in the form of leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka who has grown in stature and confidence in the last 12-18 months, and also had a great home series against Indian recently.

While he’s not played too much of franchise cricket and this will be his IPL debut, he’s likely to be a big contributor. We’ve seen leg-spinners doing really well in the IPL over the years and he even got 9 wickets in 5 games against India recently, which means he knows how to get the top Indian batsmen out as well. He even scored a fifty against England before the India series, which means he can bat as well!

Hasaranga comes in for Adam Zampa who won’t be a part of IPL 2021 anymore, and we think the former will be a good addition to the side. Zampa hasn’t been of much value to the RCB side so far and Hasaranga may help them change that. The 24-year old all-rounder joins the #PlayBold squad and Read Scoops is excited to see him in the red jersey! For similar IPL 2021 stories, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
