Everyone is looking forward to this new kid on the block when it comes to T20 franchise leagues. After several failures for Cricket South Africa (CSA) when it comes to T20 leagues, this is the first time their local T20 league seems to be having a future, even before the first edition of the tournament has kicked off.
Fir multiple reasons, the SA20 League 2023 is one that everyone is super excited about. Firstly, there is massive money involved, as CSA roped in Indian Premier League team owners. Secondly, there’s franchise recall and recognition as same owners means an added sense of love and loyalty. Thirdly, they’ve managed to sign big international stars for the first edition of the SA20 League.
SA20 2023 Dates
The first ever SA20 Player Auction took place in September 2022 and big cash was splurged on some players including Tristan Stubbs who ended up being the most expensive player in that auction. While the SA20 2023 dates and schedule is yet to be announced, updated 3rd October 2022, the starting date of first edition has been fixed for early in January 2023. They did so with 100 days left to the tournament:

The SA20 starting date has been set for 10th January 2023 and while we’re still waiting on the complete list of fixtures and the dates for the final, we know that the tournament will run into Feb 2023 as well. The league comprises six teams including MI Cape Town, Durban Super Giants, Johannesburg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

SA20 League 2023 Schedule
As of now, only the SA20 2023 start date has been announced and while we don’t know the exact SA20 schedule or fixtures, we know that there are going to be a total of 33 games on the schedule. These will be played in single and double headers in Jan/Feb 2023 and as and when the complete SA20 schedule will be announced, we’ll update the same in this space as well.
