Road Safety World Series (RSWS) – Top 5 Run Scorers

The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) began back in 2020 and was one of the first tournaments to be disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The main concept was to promote awareness on road safety and millions of people flocked to watching these games because it featured some of the best stars of the yesteryear, from several countries.

The inaugural series completed in 2021 and after the success of that first season, the organisers decided to make the tournament a much bigger and better one, with more teams and obviously more retired legends taking part in RSWS 2022. The tournament is still in its early days but we’re covering some of the top performers in this event, beginning with a list of the top run scorers in RSWS history…

Road Safety World Series (RSWS) - Top 5 Run Scorers

Road Safety World Series – top 5 run scorers

Some are in their thirties and some in their forties and some even in their fifties, but they’re still out there scoring runs. In our list below, we’ve mentioned the top 5 run scorers in RSWS history, updated as of 9th Sep 2022, before the start of Road Safety World Series Season 2. Some of the players who narrowly missed making the top five here include Yuvraj Singh (194 runs) and Andrew Puttick (185 runs).

5) Virender Sehwag

T20 cricket was made for cricketers like Virender Sehwag and while he didn’t get much of this format during his playing days, the Indian opener ensured to cash in at the RSWS T20 tournament. He got 214 runs in 7 games in the first edition with wo fifties to his name and a best score of 80*. He got these runs at an average of 42+ and he has the most sixes (7) and highest strike rate (153+) among players on this list.

4) Morne van Wyk

The former South African wicket-keeper batsman scored 228 runs in 6 games in the Road Safety Series, scoring at an average of 45.6 and getting two fifties in this tournament too, like everyone else on this list. His best score was 69* and we expect him to build on this lead for South Africa Legends as he’s a part of the RSWS 2022 squad as well, where Jonty Rhodes has been announced captain.

3) Sachin Tendulkar

You’ve clearly been living under a rock if this man needs an introduction. The Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is in every international batting records list in the world and he’s here too, with 233 runs in 7 games including two fifties, an average of 38.83 and a strike rate of slightly above 138. He leads India Legends in Season 2 and we won’t be surprised if he not only stays on the list but climbs it as well.

2) Upul Tharanga

One of the younger players from this list who retired most recently, the left-handed opening batter Upul Tharanga dominated bowlers in this tournament with 237 runs in 6 games, with two fifties and a top score of 99* which is also the highest score in the tournament itself. He had as many as 4 unbeaten innings, which means he has a whopping batting average of 118+ and it’ll be one hell of a task to dismiss him in Season 2 as well.

1) Tillakaratne Dilshan

Tharanga’s teammate and former opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan was clearly the best player of the inaugural edition of the tournament as he not only ended as the top run scorer but also the top wicket-taker of the series. He has 271 runs in 8 games with 2 fifties and a best score of 61*. Dilshan has been retired since a few years now so his performances here mean a lot, hitting the most number of boundaries in this tournament too (47).

We’ll be putting up a lot of content around this league and you can also see our list of Road Series 2022 complete squads, so you can get an idea of which teams are stronger than the others going into RSWS 2022.
