The first edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) took place back in 2016 and since then, we’ve seen some really extraordinary performances with both bat and ball. The first few editions were all played in UAE for security reasons but later, cricket moved back to Pakistan where we’ve seen equally good action on the field, if not better.
We’ve witnessed big hitting in PSL T20 over the years but the bowlers have been on point always, to counter this hitting. We’ve got a list of every PSL 5-wicket haul taken in this tournament’s history and here on this page, we’re going to focus on every occasion that a bowler has managed to pick up a PSL hat-trick, meaning wickets off three consecutive deliveries…
When you look back at the PSL hat-tricks list, you’ll see almost every entry on the list has been by a local Pakistani bowler itself. The first time a PSL hat-trick was picked up, it was the young left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir who bagged this milestone, getting three scalps in three deliveries for Karachi Kings in the first edition, PSL 2016 itself.

Till date, a total of six PSL hat-tricks have been picked up, four by pacers and just a solitary entry by a spinner on this list, that being from South Africa’s Imran Tahir when he picked up 3 consecutive wickets for Multan Sultans in PSL 2018. Incidentally, three out of the five PSL hattricks to have taken place have come to Multan Sultans bowlers, while Islamabad United and Karachi Kings have one PSL hattrick each. The Abbas Afridi hattrick is the only PSL hattrick to have taken place on Pakistani soil; It took place at Rawalpindi after the other four took place in UAE – first two in Dubai and the other two in Sharjah.
So far, only one player has been involved as a victim in two different PSL hat-tricks. We’re talking about Umaid Asif who who the second dismissal for Mohammad Sami in PSL 2019 and then, he turned out to be the second wicket in Abbas Afridi’s hat-trick in PSL 08 as well.
