REPORTS: Nicholas Pooran, 2 Others Alleged With Fixing Charges

Let’s start this article right at the top with a disclaimer that this is a news piece based on rumours and reports going around on social media. As per those rumours, there’s an inquiry being made into Nicholas Pooran and two of his team members regarding match fixing in the ongoing Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021.

RUMOURS: Nicholas Pooran, 2 Others Alleged With Fixing Charges

Captaining the Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2021, Pooran is one of the most sought after T20 cricketers in the world and we’ll be very disappointed if we get to know that these rumours have any truth in them. Pooran was in action yesterday in Match 5 of CPL 2021, where Guyana took on St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, with the latter chasing to pick up an important victory.

During the chase, we saw a lot of wides and extras being bowled by two bowlers – Nial Smith and Naveen ul Haq. As per the reports or rumours going up online, both these bowlers along with the captain Pooran are being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), a unite of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

One over in particular which caught a lot of eyeballs was the 15th over being bowled by Nial Smith. He bowled a number of short and wide balls, some of which were called wide and the others of which were helped down to the fence for easy runs. With the ICC taking anti-corruption very seriously, this could be a grave matter for the three involved, if there’s any truth in these rumours.

All three very young and talented cricketers, we’re hoping that these rumours are completely fake and false, because they all have very bright futures ahead of them. For more updates on the ongoing CPL 2021 tournament, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
