It wasn’t too long ago that a famous Kohli vs Gambhir battle was reignited as the too got into a verbal tussle in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which saw both the Delhi boys receiving 100% match fines each. Now, it’s time for some more scores to be settled at IPL 2023.
It’s a Saturday which means another double header at IPL 2023 and in today’s second game of the day, we have Delhi Capitals taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Match 50 of this season promises to be an exciting one, not because of on-field rivalries but here because of an off-field rivalry between two India cricketing greats.
Ganguly vs Kohli in today’s IPL 2023 game
It’s been believed that Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli have been having a tiff off the field because of some administrative issues at the time when Ganguly was heading the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The two teams already played once this season in IPL 2023 Match 20 and RCB ended up victorious on home turf by as many as 23 runs.
What makes matters worse is that we saw Kohli and Ganguly engage in a cold war in that game, when the two legends ignored each other in the post-match greetings. Camera angles also caught what seemed to be Kohli giving a ‘death stare’ to Ganguly when the two crossed paths. Now, it’s time for some more drama as the two face off once again.

Broadcast partner Star Sports didn’t want to miss a chance to create some more hype around the game as they created a face off poster of Ganguly vs Kohli for today’s game. Usually, this poster has the captains of both teams but here, none are captains of their respective IPL sides, with David Warner captaining Delhi and Faf du Plessis captaining Bangalore now.
We’re not sure whether the Kohli vs Ganguly fight is a real one or it’s just media hype, but it’s surely going to get Star Sports a whole lot of more visibility for this weekend’s Saturday night blockbuster game. Both of RCB’s openers Kohli and du Plessis are among the top run scorers of the competition and we expect RCB to get another win away from home today.
