India Win 1st Test By Innings And 132 Runs – Best Twitter Reactions

So much of hype and anticipation there was around the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy, and the first game has ended within less than 3 full days of cricket. The India vs Australia rivalry has always seen a high quality brand of cricket but the 1st Test in Nagpur ended much quicker than what most experts thought, with India winning by an innings and 132 runs, going 1-0 up in the series.

So many positives came out of this game over the last 3 days, including Rohit Sharma’s century followed by 5-fers for both Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, across both innings. Axar Patel also narrowly missed a century and from Australia’s side, 22-year old Todd Murphy picked up a 7-fer on his international debut for his country.

Twitter reacts to India’s innings victory

Australia has been in India since a while now, so there hasn’t been a lack of preparation time for sure. In fact, they hired a Ashwin-duplicate bowler from India to bowl to them in the nets. Clearly, that didn’t work out well as Ashwin tore into the Aussie lineup in the 2nd innings, while all of Marnus Labuschagne’s coffee didn’t help his cause either. Twitter has gone crazy with this massive victory for India today.

While it was a turning track, the Indians applied themselves so much better with the bat than the touring team. There was plenty of talk about the pitch but the ball turned as much for Australian spinners as well. The batting was poor and Irfan Pathan believes that not many Aussie touring sides in the past have played so poorly. They secured their lowest Test total against India on Day 3, being bowled out for 92!

For taking 7 wickets in the game and scoring an important 70 with the bat, Ravindra Jadeja was announced the Man of the Match. Now the post-match presentation was probably the best part of the game as Sanjay Manjrekar had to announced Jadeja as the best player of the game, and we all know that he’s not been a fan of Jadeja over the years, calling him a ‘bits and pieces player’ in the past. See the jokes here:

Now while almost everyone contributed with either bat or ball, Virat Kohli couldn’t make much of a difference to the game with only 12 runs to his name in India’s only innings. However, he was spotted dancing after the victory and once again, he was a center of attention. As for his counter-part Steve Smith, he was dejected after being the only player undefeated in Australia’s 2nd innings.

Now while there are a lot of jokes on social media about Australia, let’snot forget that they’re a champion side and we won’t be surprised if they come back really strong in the 2nd Test, which is scheduled between 17-21 Feb 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. For similar updates from the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
