IND vs NZ MyFab11 Team – 2nd T20I 2021 | 19 Nov

India had a poor 2021 T20 World Cup but they were back to winning ways in their first T20 game after the ICC tournament. Now, they move on to the 2nd T20I in Ranchi and have a chance to wrap up the series early. They won the first by 5 wickets but it was closer than it needed to be, allowing New Zealand to drag them all the way to the 20th over, with the hosts eventually winning with only 2 balls to spare.

Both teams are much different from what they looked like in the T20 World Cup and while India are huge favourites, we tend to see some very close encounters between these two sides. In two previous T20 internationals in this ground, India have won both, once against Australia and once against Sri Lanka. India

For the home team, we saw Ravi Ashwin get a lot of turn and bounce and hence he should be picked again in our IND vs NZ fantasy team because he cause a change in the NZ innings, with two wickets in an over. The other spinner was Axar Patel who was ineffective so we think Yuzvendra Chahal should be brought into the side once again, having picked 1/23 in his only previous game here. He gets much more turn as well!

However, that move would significantly weaken their batting, since they’re playing only 6 batsmen. I love Venkatesh Iyer but with him batting all the way down at #6, we won’t be able to see the best of him, so I’m leaving him out of my IND vs NZ MyFab11 team today. Shreyas Iyer struggled in the 1st T20I in his return to the national side but he’s a talented batsman and scored runs against NZ when they toured there too.

New Zealand

In the last game, NZ didn’t have anyone to turn too when they needed a 6th bowling option and that’s why we think James Neesham could be brought back into the team for the 2nd T20I. However, it’s likely they stick with the same team too, considering they want to test new players. Rachin Ravindra is usually an opening batter and him coming so low down to slow a few doesn’t work, and his 7(8) in the last game showed that.

Mark Chapman looked very much at ease in the 1st T20I and we’re surely picking him in our MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) IND vs NZ fantasy team while we’d like to see him bowl an over or two as well. Martin Guptill doesn’t usual score well against India and on a slightly slower pitch here in Ranchi, he may struggle. Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult are my bowling picks for today!
