After a day’s break in the Big Bash League 2021/22, we’re back to some cricketing action in Australia in a double header, with the first game being Renegades vs Thunder. The second game of the day will be played at The Gabba with the home team Brisbane Heat in action. They’ve had a poor BBL 11 season with 3 wins in their 9 games and with more than half their squad out with Covid-19, it’s tougher now for them.
They fielded a side with 8 new players in the last game and that’s likely to continue today. On the other hand is Hobart Hurricanes who is one of the few teams unaffected with Covid-19 cases so far and they’ll fancy their chances to improve from 4 wins in 9 games as they play BBL 11 Match 41. Numbers
- Head to head in last 5 games, Heat leads 4-1.
- Ben McDermott – 364 runs in 7 games in BBL 11.
- 1, 1, 0, 6 – Matthew Wade’s last 4 scores this season.
Brisbane Heat
Among all the new names who took the field in their last game, opening batsman and son of former Australian cricketer Jake Lehmann was the most impressive with 65 and with the experience he’s got in domestic cricket, we’re picking him in our HEA vs HUR fantasy team. With the ball, David Grant had a fantastic BBL debut with a wicket on just his third ball and he ended that game with figures of 3/20, so pick him as well.
Having a very poor BBL debut was Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman with only 3 runs to his name but these bouncy pitches will suit his style of playing and we imagine a lot of runs from his bat, so we’re adding him in our HEA vs HUR Dream11 team as well. Mujeeb Ur Rahman will be among the most senior bowlers while new captain Tom Cooper will have more responsibility and we see him taking it on well here.
Hobart Hurricanes
With 265 runs in 7 games so far, D’Arcy Short has had a pretty poor season as per his standards, with a strike rate of below 100 in this season, which is one of the lowest in the league as well. But he’s scoring consistently and bowling too, so we can’t leave him out. With four consecutive single-digit scores, we’re leaving out captain Matthew Wade while Tim David in the lower order could make a good batting pick.

Nathan Ellis wasn’t in the squad for the last game but Riley Meredith is someone we can’t leave out of our MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) HEA vs HUR fantasy team, as he’s one of the fastest in the league and has 9 scalps in 6 games in BBL 11 so far. And talking about wickets, there’s a very safe bet in Tom Rogers as he’s their leading wicket-taker of BBL 2021/22 so far with 14 wickets in just 8 games.
