Ashes 2021/22: Fan Gets Head Signed by Jack Leach

Three Tests are over and the series is already wrapped up a Australia retained the Ashes by winning 3-0 and now, the final two games are like a dead rubber. Day 1 of the 4th Test is also a bit boring as half the day was washed out due to bad weather. Not much for the Englishmen to look forward to on this day, right?!

However, the fans were super excited either way. They all made their way to the stadiums despite all the Covid-19 troubles happening in the country and they came to the ground to watch some cricket. And on the rain-disturbed first day, one of the fans even reached out to England spinner Jack Leach for an autograph, but the signature wasn’t on a bat or paper or any other merchandise…

Ashes 2021/22: Fan Gets Head Signed by Jack Leach

Jack leach signs fan’s head

You read it right, he asked Leach to sign his bald head. It was the last Ashes series when Leach got into the squad and became very popular because of an epic partnership with Ben Stokes to take England to victory in one of the Tests of the 5-match series. His bald hairstyle was also very trendy among English cricket supporters.

Leach fulfilled the fan’s request and went on to sign his head, and the video of this incident has gone super viral on social media. Leach didn’t have much to do in the field today, bowling only 2 overs in which he gave away 3 runs, but this would’ve been the highlight of the day for him, for sure.

Only 46.5 overs could be played on Day 1 of this 4th Test at Sydney and England and Leach will be hoping for more play on Day 2. Eventually, Australia got 126/3 and the scoreboard looked slightly respectable for the visiting team thanks to two late wickets in the final session of play.

While Leach’s highlight of Day 1 was an autograph, he’ll definitely be looking to play a bigger role on Day 2. Who knows, a few wickets and England could well be in the contest. However, it’s not many times that we’ve said this in the Ashes 2021/22 series as England have been dominated day by day, session by session so far on this tour.

It was England’s Barmy Army that posted the video online, and you can always rely on them for the best cricketing content when their side is playing an overseas tour. Quite a few comments came in like “The best contribution he has made so far this summer” and even “Jacks first bit of head!”

Keeping all the fun aside, the intensity will continue on Day 2 and England fans will secretly be hoping bad weather continues to disrupt this game. Or else, England could very well be looking at another Ashes 5-0 whitewash and they certainly wouldn’t want that!
