After a couple of weeks of intense and entertaining action, the 2022 Abu Dhabi T10 League has finally concluded, with a fantastic day of big hitting and great skills happening today, 4th Dec 2022. In the final, it was New York Strikers vs Deccan Gladiators and it was surely a match worthy of being a final, with the latter emerging champions.
After the toss, it was decided that the Nicholas Pooran led Deccan Gladiators would bat first and though they lost an early wicket or two, the captain along with David Wiese managed to get them back on track and put up a fighting total of 128 in their 10 overs allotted quota. And Kieron Pollard’s New York Strikers weren’t good enough to chase down this score.
Deccan Gladiators wins Abu Dhabi T10 2022
While the chase seemed on at one stage, the Gladiators ended up trouncing their opponents in order to be crowned champions of the Abu Dhabi T10 2022. This team won the 2021/22 season as well, making them the first team to go on to defend a title in this tournament’s history, this being the sixth edition of this exciting T10 competition.
While Pooran scored 40(23) and in the process became the first player to cross 1,000+ T10 career runs, it was Wiese who actually helped them get to that massive total, putting up 43(18)* and then later getting a couple of good catches in the field, making him one of the biggest contributors on the day, helping Gladiators to get to back-to-back titles.

In a final, there’s always pressure and another person who made a massive contribution under that pressure was also the Irish pacer Joshua Little who has a mixed bag of variations and all of them were on display today. In a game where you need to score at 13 runs per over, Little went at 2 runs per over as he finished with 2/4 in his 2 overs with the ball.
Mohammad Hasnain also did his part today, ending with 2/15 in his 2 overs and eventually, it turned out to be a smashing victory for the Gladiators, winning by a margin of 37 runs which is absolutely gigantic in T10 cricket. Pooran ended as the top run scorer in the tournament with 345 runs in this season, while Dwaine Pretorius ended as the top bowler of the season.
What makes this victory even more special is the fact that the Gladiators had to win three in a row to get here, including the eliminator and qualifier, before winning the final. For Pooran, it’s his fourth T10 title in a total of 6 seasons completed in the Abu Dhabi T10, so he’ll be over the moon with this victory as well.
