Bangladesh Beats Australia For First Time in a T20I

We talk about history being created and every now and them, there are some new milestones and accomplishments being reached and breached by individuals in the game of cricket. Today however, was not a moment of history for an batsman or bowler, but for a team and for a complete nation as well.

We’re talking about Australia’s tour of Bangladesh 2021 and in the preview of the 1st T20I, we spoke about Bangladesh having never beaten Australia in this format as yet. They’ve played them only 4 times in the last 14 years and have lost all 4 of those games. Today however, they will celebrate as they won the 1st T20I by a decent margin and go down into the history books.

Bangladesh Beats Australia For First Time in a T20I

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first game of this 5-match series. Bangladesh wouldn’t have been too happy with their performance with the bat because they were just completely unable to get runs at a consistent basis. They ended up getting 131/7 in their 20 overs, with Shakib al Hasan top scoring with a score of 36.

In the return, Australia were blown away right from the word go. They found themselves at 11/3 in no time and it was going to be very difficult to make a comeback from there. Mitchell Marsh has been the man in form for the visitors, and after having a breakthrough tour of West Indies, he was their main hope until he was dismissed as well.

Once he was out for a run-a-ball 45, it was the last nail in the coffin for the visitors and they not only lost by 23 runs, but they also registered their lowest total in T20 internationals. Congratulations to Bangladesh who won by 23 runs and go 1-0 up in the 5-match series.
