It was a quick and unfortunate end to PV Sindhu’s journey at the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals which is currently taking place at the Badung Regency, Bali. Having first begun in 2018, the Indian ace shuttler was the first women’s singles winner in this tournament, winning the 2018 titles in Guangzhou. This year however, her journey ended at the final barrier, and she had to settle for silver.
It was an inspired journey so far but today, she was quick to go down in the final, playing against the world number #6, Korea’s An Se-young. She had no answer to the South Korean, losing in straight sets, 16-21, 12-21. The match lasted for only 39 minutes and our Indian pro who has 2 Olympic medals to her name wasn’t able to make a comeback today on Sunday, 5th Dec 2021.
The Korean has been in great form and we knew it was going to be a tough fight for Sindhu, coming into the final of this season-ending tournament. She had won the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open before coming into this tournament, and now she’s added the World Tour Finals to her name as well. Remember, she had beaten Sindhu int he quarter final of the Denmark Open in Oct this year too!

Apart from her title win in 2018, she has made two other finals including this one in 2021, which makes her the first and only Indian to have done so in this tournament history. On the other hand, her opponent became the first player from South Korea to win this tournament. She has now beaten Sindhu in three successive meetings across tournaments.
The next time they play, Sindhu will be looking to make amends but until then, she’s going to have to be happy with her latest silver medal in Bali. For similar updates on sporting events from across the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
