Every year, there’s a whole lot of excitement and build up to The Ashes which happens to be one of the most legendary series and rivalry in the game of cricket. As England plays Australia down under, sport’s biggest rivalry resumes with Ashes 2021/22 which begins on 8th December 2021 and the home team has gone on to announce their playing eleven for the 1st Test!
There was a lot of uncertainty over who will play, especially with their captain and wicket-keeper Tim Paine stepping down because of his sexting scandal. The new captain was named in Pat Cummins and they were looking for a new keeper though, and while there were a few options, they decided to hand a Test debut to left-hander Alex Carey.
There was a batting spot which was up for grabs and while many thought that the in-form Usman Khawaja would get it, they went on to give that position to Travis Head while in the fast bowling department, Mitchell Starc has kept his place as well. Nathan Lyon will be the only spinner in the side while Test-specialist Cameron Green in action once again. Steve Smith has been names as vice-captain again.
