Designer Virgil Abloh Passes Away of Cancer

The fashion industry is deeply saddened today as they’ve lost a gem in Virgil Abloh. The fashion designer was known mostly for being the founder of the Off-White brand and also being the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection. The news of his death was posted on his Instagram account, passing away due to cancer at the age of 41 years.

Tributes came pouring in from the entire fashion and entertainment industry as soon as the word spread online. The statement on his account said that he lost a battle to a rare and aggressive form of cancer, after fighting it for 2 years now. He chose to endure the battle privately after it was diagnosed in 2019 and hasn’t been super active since then.

“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend,” said the statement. He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues,” said a part of the statement.

“For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture,” it continued.
