You’re living under a rock or something if you don’t recognise the TV series known as Squid Game. Making its debut on Netflix last month, there was a global hype around this show which was originally rejected by producers for a decade before it was taken up. While she wasn’t the main protagonist of the show, there was one actress who gained a lot of praises and love from across the world, and that was depicted by South Korea’s HoYeon Jung (Chung). The 27-year old fashion model and now actress had barely any following on social media and ever since her appearance on Squid Game, her popularity on social media, particularly Instagram, has gone through the roof.

When we last checked, she had 18+ million Instagram followers from what was less than a million only a couple of weeks ago. She’s seen a drastic spike daily over the last fortnight or so for her role in the TV show, and is now sitting at the most followed Korean actor / actress on Instagram. What a way her life has turned around because of her role in Squad Game, where she portrayed the role of Kang Sae-Byeok.
The actual rise has been seen in the last 10-15 days where the popularity of this show has been catching on like wildfire. She’s received international recognition for her role in this show and we expect many more filmmakers from across the globe to reach out to her, which means this Instagram following is likely to only get higher in months to come!
Earlier in September 2021, her Instagram followers stood at around 400,000 and now that’s all history for the Korean actress. The sky is the limit now for her and even though she wasn’t the main actor in the show and though she ends up dying (SPOILER ALERT), she’s managed to walk away as the biggest winner from the lot!
