Breathe: Into the Shadows Season 2 – Ending Explained

Launched in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video, Breathe: Into The Shadows gripped the nation with drama, action, love, family, emotion, and much more. And of course, there was a cliffhanger towards the end of the first season which we tried to explain the ending to our viewers as well, where everyone wanted to know what C-16 signified in the series.

Well, the mystery over C-16 continued in the second season of Breathe: Into The Shadows as well, which we explained to our viewers in another article but won’t talk about it so early in this article as yet. Firstly, let’s start off with the fact that J / Avinash had to kill ten heads (people) of Ravana and coming into Season 2, he had six deaths still to be completed.

Now for those of you who were following the show closely, you’d know that each killing was associated with a sin of Ravana, including lust, anger, attachment, pride, and many others. As the season progressed, J completed more killings with ease, with two still pending going into the final episode of the series – Season 2 Episode 8 – titled ‘Paradise’.

Barun Awasthi was one of the men on J’s list for his ‘selfishness’ which caused a major bus accident where J’s daughter Siya could have lost her life a few years ago. As the episode progresses, we learn that Awasthi took his own life before J came to get him, as he knew that he’d be on his list. Which meant the ninth killing was taken care of itself, with the tenth one still in the works.

And while people kept guessing who the next victim would be, viewers were shocked to know that the tenth person was actually J’s wife Abha Sabharwal itself, for the sin of ‘betrayal’. The series talks about how Abha had an extra-marital affair with J’s asylum doctor Siddharth (wo also has to be killed in the process), for which J couldn’t forgive Abha.

In the final scene, Inspector Kabir Sawant tries his best to save both of J and Abha as either one of them needed to be eliminated in order to end the drama. If J completed his ten killings, he’d go away forever, so it was either him or Abha. Kabir manages to get Abha free of J’s grasp and a fire is started at the scene, which later shows causes the death of J.

And while Abha is shown to be super sad in the moment, the end of the series shows a scene of 15 months later where J /Avinash is actually living with his wife and daughter abroad. The entire act was set up by husband and wife, including getting a fake post-mortem, another body to burn in the fire, and much more. They plotted this so that they could get away from the media scrutiny and authorities, and live a life together.

Now what we don’t know as yet if the killings were all by J and Abha has decided to live with the ‘bad uncle’ monster in her home, or whether it was all an act and there wasn’t any J after all. It’s possible that Avinash himself is a killer, and all of this was planned for some reason. Many questions are left unanswered because there’s hype to be built going into Breathe: Into The Shadows Season 3.
