Coronavirus Outbreak in Bangalore – Live Updates

17th March 6:00pm: NUMBERS UPDATE – 137 cases of coronavirus in India right now!

15th March 3:10pm: Yesterday, we spoke about a newly married Bangalore couple who had travel history to Italy, and were both tested positive for coronavirus. The wife fled to Agra and as per reports, there will be legal action be taken against her for failing to follow the safety instructions. “We are thinking of taking legal action against the woman and her family. A message should be sent out, what if another 10 families get affected because of them?” said Prabhu Narayan Singh, Agra District Magistrate yesterday.

15th March 12:40pm: The madness continues in India and around the world. We’re looking at a total count of 107 coronavirus cases in India at the moment. It’s been a deserted city of Bangalore too as malls and other public places were under lockdown. Not the ideal Saturday night last night! In Bengaluru, a temple was found to have displayed a board saying it won’t distribute ‘teertha’ (holy water) or ‘prasad’ (offering) to devotees.

14th March, 12:20pm: Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia:

14th March 11:15am: The RSS was supposed to host a meeting for the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in Bangalore between 15-17 March to decide the future course of action for the party. However, their general secretary Suresh ‘Bhaiyyaji’ Joshi confirmed the meeting has been postponed due tot he virus scare.

As per a latest report, there’s a 559% rise in the demand of hand sanitizers in the country, especially in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Similarly, there has been a 334% hike in the demand for face masks, and why not?! Even the Supreme Court has decided to only take up urgent matters now, from Monday, 16th March onwards.

Coronavirus outbreak in Bangalore - Live updates
14th March, 10;15am: Every industry has been hurt so far and the latest to come under the scanner is Bangalore’s tech giant, Infosys. After suspecting a team member to have come in contact with the virus, Infosys went on to evacuate an entire building. THey will sanitize the building before deciding how to go ahead. “To ensure preparedness, we are evacuating only the IIPM building as a precautionary measure on receiving information that a team member from the building may have been in proximity to COVID-19 suspect,” was the message in an email from Infosys’ Bengaluru development centre head, Gururaj Deshpande.

14th March 9:10am: It’s later found out that the wife of the techie, who was Bangalore’s 5th COVID-19 case, has also been found to be positive for the disease in Agra. Her entire family of 9 has been sent to quarantine. It’s a humble request to everyone reading this post not to follow this example. If you have symptoms, get yourself checked and follow the necessary guidance from doctors. Spreading it is the worst thing you can do right now.

13th March 6:30pm: It’s Friday the 13th and it has indeed been a horror day for citizens of the world and for India and Bengaluru in specific. Being there a week ago, I’d say the coronavirus situation wasn’t as deadly then as it is now in the city. It’s getting more serious by the day and one can get all COVID-19 updates from Bangalore here.

The first Indian coronavirus fatality was from Karnataka and since then, the tensions have risen. It wasn’t too long ago that we heard of a Google techie from Bangalore who was tested positive for coronavirus, shortly after he reached back to the country after a holiday to Italy with his wife. Since then, his wife caught a flight to Delhi and fled to Agra to stay with her parents.
