What Can We Expect From The Facebook Rebranding?

Earlier this morning, social media went into a tizzy with reports coming out of Facebook wanting to rebrand itself and consider a name change. Since its inception over a dozen years ago, everyone is accustomed to calling the social media giant as Facebook and a name change will leave a lot of users reeling, and struggling to cope with the change.

What Can We Expect From The Facebook Rebranding?

As per reports, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg wants to focus on expansion into the metaverse, already owning other social media and instant messaging apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. While this hasn’t been confirmed yet and it’s likely that the parent company is rebranded rather than Facebook itself, users on social media have gone ahead and made their own reactions.

A Facebook representative gave an official remark saying that they have ‘no comment on rumour or speculation’ about the same. Plenty of users online suggested that Facebook may reinstate the ‘The’ in their name as they initially launched as ‘TheFacebook’ on 4 February, 2004. It was only later than they dropped the additional word.

Other users decided to get more creative and asked Facebook to drop ‘Facebook’ and just leave the word ‘The’ in their name. That would cause quite some trouble and confusion, wouldn’t it?! We won’t be able to recover from the jokes on how Facebook will need to provde documentation before completing a name change, as they ask their users to do so as well:

Some users couldn’t help themselves and make memes and jokes about Facebook itself falling apart. Every since the massive server outage that happened a couple of weeks back, everyone had speculations about the future of the social media platform, and we’re not surprised to see jokes like these too:
