Last year, the Prime Volleyball League took place for the first time after it rechristened the existing Pro Volleyball League. Seven teams took part in that inaugural season in 2022 and now due to the success of that edition, we’re all set for the 2023 Prime Volleyball League where an eighth team will be joining the mix in Mumbai Meteors.
That very successful first edition was won by the Kolkata Thunderbolts and they’ll be looking to continue their dominance in PVL 2023 as well, which is a bigger and much improved season. Sony Sports and Volleyball World have the rights to broadcast the tournament, with the latter signing a multi-year deal prior to the start of the PVL 2023 season.
Prime Volleyball League 2023 Dates
The Rupay Prime Volleyball League Season 2 powered by A23 will be hosted at Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kochi. There is one more team in PVL Season 2 and obviously, more matches on the schedule. So, the season will be longer than last year which lasted around 3 weeks. This time, the PVL 2023 dates have been announced and the season will last for a little bit longer than a month.
A total of 28 league stage games will take place between 4 Feb – 2 Mar 2023 followed by three playoffs games between 3-5 Mar 2023. The overall PVL 2023 dates are between 4 Feb – 5 Mar 2023 and we expect it to be one hell of a season. In the season opener, it’s Benglauru Torpedoes vs Kolkata Thunderbolts where the defending champions will begin their campaign at Bengaluru.
