Since 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been India’s biggest sporting event each year and while cricket has been the leading sport in the country for decades, we’re seeing the commercialisation of other sports in recent years too. The ISL (football) and PKL (kabaddi) are some examples and we’re here to talk about yet another upcoming sporting event – Prime Volleyball League 2022.
For sponsorship reasons, the tournament is known as the Rupay Prime Volleyball League 2022, powered by A23. The latter recently signed on as associate title sponsor of the PVL 2022 season, which you can read all about here. Prime Volleyball League 2022 Dates
The Pro Volleyball League first took place in 2019 and that was scrapped so while the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) is back after 2 years, it’s technically the inaugural season of this professional indoor volleyball league. A total of 7 franchise teams are participating in the first edition and the schedule is already out, with the PVL 2022 dates confirmed as 5-27 Feb 2022. The PVL 2022 grande finale takes place on 27 Feb!
A total of 24 matches will be played across the PVL 2022 schedule of 23 days, and the teams will play each other once each in a round robin format before the top four teams go on to play the semi finals and the finals. Because of Covid-19 restrictions and protocols, all the games on the PVL 2022 schedule will take place at Hyderabad itself.
