There are only 4 Grand Slams being played each year but for professional tennis players, these can get super exhausting and that’s why we see players like Roger Federer dropping out mid tournament to prepare for another, like we saw him doing in French Open 2021. Now however, it’s time for Wimbledon 2021 in England and this is often considered as the most prestigious slam of them all!
The reason we’re writing today is because Wimbledon brought yet another upset as it has done innumerable times in the past years as well. Today being Day 1 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, we saw a good Round 1 game taking place between Greek #3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and American unseeded player, Frances Tiafoe.
Many time in his career, we’ve seen Stefanos drop a set or two in a match only to make a comeback later, because he paces himself very well in big games and tournaments. Today however, he wasn’t at the top of his game as the unseeded American beat him in the opening round, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3! Not many tennis experts would’ve predicted this result at the start of this tournament.

We spoke about the reset button because it’s often known you have to be able to reset after a big win or great season, and Tsitsipas recently had the most amazing 2021 French Open, where he only lost to Novak Djokovic in the final, narrowly missing the become the first Greece tennis player to win a Grand Slam.
The pressure of expectation (and of course fatigue) seems to have got to him in this game at the Wimbledon Championships as Tsitsipas made an unlikely exit in Round 1.
