French Open 2023 top seeded players
Easily the toughest grand slam on the tennis annual calendar, Roland Garros 2023 (aka French Open 2023) is back again and everyone’s super excited to see how this fortnight of tennis goes. While we’re still some time away from the tournament, the top players are announced early, known as seeds in tennis tournaments, while the wild cards and qualifiers will be decided closer to the tournament start.
If you’re wondering about when that start is, check out our article on the French Open 2023 dates and schedule. It’s found it’s usual slot of May/June this year as well; many players will be making comebacks, while some others being forced to stay away due to injuries. Read Scoops will be covering both the men’s as well as women’s French Open 2023 draws, and you can keep reading for our FO23 seeds tracker…
When the Australian Open 2023 took place earlier this year, top seed Novak Djokovic went on to win while the number #5 seed Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s title. Djokovic retained his world number #1 position and he’s one of the French Open 2023 favourites, given Rafael Nadal’s injury issues. Iga Świątek is the reigning women’s champ, so she continued to be the French Open 2023 top seed here.
When we wrote this page at the start of the French Open 2023, last updated 5th June 2023. Carlos Alcaraz is the men’s top seed while Swiatek will be looking to defend her title. Here, Read Scoops will be updating this page on a daily basis during the French Open 2023 tournament main draw, so keep checking this space for our real-time French Open 2023 seeds tracker.

French Open 2023 withdrawals
Former world number #1 Naomi Osaka is set to return but losing early in French Open 2022 and missing the 2021 edition means she may not be the toughest to beat here. In the men’s tournament, we think Nick Kyrgios may return to the Roland Garros after 5 years. Carlos Alcaraz had a great run last season on clay and we think him and Jannik Sinner will be be forces to reckon with.
It’s too early to know about French Open 2023 withdrawals, as there’s more than 2 months before action begins here. Before the tournament kicks off on 28th May, there will also be the Roland Garros 2023 qualifiers, which will decide who takes on these 32 seeds in the men’s and women’s draws.
