There are four Grand Slams played each year and to start each year is one of the most popular of them – Australian Open. And as the new year dawns upon us, we’re all set for the 2022 Australian Open which will take place at Melbourne Park, where it has been taking place annually since the even first moved here in the year 1988.
This season, we’ve lost a few players in both the men’s as well as women’s tournaments due to injuries but it’s still going to be a super intense couple of weeks, as it always is at this venue. In the 2021 Australian Open, it was Serbia’s Novak Djokovic who won the men’s singles while Japan’s Naomi Osaka was victorious in the women’s singles last year. Australian Open 2022 Dates
Like every other tennis major on the calendar, the tournament will take place over a couple of weeks and the Australian Open 2022 dates are scheduled between 17-30 January 2022, which is earlier than last year, as the last edition took place between 8-21 Feb in 2021. Both defending champs Djokovic and Osaka are all set to come to defend their title here in Melbourne to start the new year!
Once again, the Djoker begins as the top seed in the men’s Australian Open 2022 and in the women’s tournament, it’s the local girl Ashleigh Barty who has two Grand Slams to her name and she’ll be looking for her third one on home soil as well. The qualifying rounds for the Australian Open 2022 would run from 10-14 January 2022, and would be held in Melbourne itself.
