Hardik Pandya Trolled For ‘Marry Christmas’ Post

Whether he’s scoring runs or not, Hardik Pandya always finds himself in the news. Whether it’s his comments in TV shows or his antics off the field or his fancy new homes and cars, he always loves making a statement. And of late, he’s been coming under the scanner because he’s been in the news more for other things than for his cricket.

Yesterday, he was in the limelight once again, this time because of a typo in his Christmas 2021 post on his social media handles. Pandya posted a picture with his wife, son and other family and wanted to wish his fans and followers for this festive season. However, it backfired as his caption had a major typo and netizens are always quick to latch on to such things.

Apart from family members, there were decorations, a Christmas tree and and a lot of gifts in the pictures too. However, the main highlight of the post was the caption which read, “Marry Christmas to one and all” along with a few hearts and other emojis. Netizens pounced all over him for the type, which should’ve been ‘Merry Christmas’ instead.

Typos in Twitter posts are very common because they aren’t editable as compared to other social media posts. Usually, celebrities get a lot of criticism when they make such errors but they’re quick to delete the posts and re-post them with the right spellings and/or other corrections. However, it’s been 24 hours since the post and Hardik decided to keep the post anyway.

When we checked out his Instagram profile which has 19 million followers, Hardik edited the post copy there to make it ‘Merry’ instead of ‘Marry’ but he decided to leave the Twitter post as it is. He was heavily criticised and trolled on Twitter, while a lot of attention went to the multiple dogs in the pictures as well.

One Twitter user posted a reply on the tweet, saying, “Money can’t buy you “English”, you have to learn it the hard way. #merry”. Another user said, “Marry Christmas??? This is what overnight but one-night purchased stardom does.” Many other users also pointed out a visible baby bump that his wife Natasha was sporting, and there’s speculation of a second child on the way.

A lot of users also wished that he started scoring runs and picking wickets, so he can return to the national side and fulfill the potential and the expectations we have from him. And we at Read Scoops agree as he’s someone with massive potential, which we wouldn’t want to see go down the drain.

Almost every member of the Indian cricket teams posted images and tweets on the occasion of Christmas 2021 but Hardik’s was the one which garnered most interest and attention. We at Read Scoops hope you all had a safe and prosperous Christmas, and we wish you a Happy New Year 2022 as well.
