History is waiting to be made as we’re all set for the 2022 Australian Open men’s final. One one hand is Rafael Nadal who is the number #6 seed this tournament and has been brilliant, looking to become the first man ever to reach 21 Grand Slam titles, as he’s tied at 20 with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. He’s reached the Aus Open final for the sixth time and is old, but vastly experienced.
On the other hand is the top Russian player Daniil Medvedev who is the number #2 seed but was the top ranked player this tournament after Djokovic was deported. He’s had his ups and downs this tournament and while he’s the better player on paper, he’s not at his emotional best right now, with a huge outburst in the last game. Check out our Aus pen 2022 final, Nadal vs Medvedev betting tips and predictions…
Aus Open 2022 final – Nadav vs Medvedev
With age on his side, Medvedev is super fit and is likely going to go the distance. In case there’s a requirement to go into the fourth and fifth set, he will be more favourite as time goes on. Because of his age, Nadal may not have it in him to last long in an epic battle. However, Medvedev had a couple of long games and may be tiring too. Medvedev is favourite to be the Aus Open 2022 winner at 1.52 with ComeOn.
For those who aren’t new to tennis betting, we know that those are too low odds to be placing bets on, so we’d wait on Medvedev losing a couple of games early on, or even losing the first set before placing any bets on him. Remember, he lost the first two sets in his quarter final game before making a comeback. Nadal is underdog today but is an attractive bet, at pre-match odds of 2.70.
Australian Open 2022 so far
In six games in the 2022 Aus Open, Rafa won three in straight sets while losing a set in two matches and going the distance in a 5-set match against Denis Shapovalov in the quarter final. He’s yet to lose the opening set of any game in this tournament and that would make a good bet too, for Nadal to win the 1st Set at odds of 2.35 with ComeOn. He won in 4 sets against Matteo Berrettini in the semi final!

As for Medvedev, he’s had only 2 straight set victories so far this fortnight. He went to 4 sets twice including in his semi final game against Stefanos Tsitsipas, while going the distance in a 5-set thriller against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter final. If you are favouring him today, we’d recommend set betting and predict Medvedev to win 3-1 at odds of 4.25 on ComeOn!
Nadal vs Medvedev head to head
Very surprisingly, it’s the veteran 35-year old who leads the head-to-head count between the two, Nadal leading 3-1 against Medvedev. They’ve faced off on different surfaces and their only Grand Slam encounter was the US Open 2019 where Nadal won a 5-set game. However, their most recent face off was at the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals in Great Britain where Medvedev won in three sets.
