Legendary tennis player and 9-time grand slam winner down under, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is well on his way to go on and complete 10 victories at the Australian Open, something no one has ever achieved before and possibly won’t again either. Today, he weathered a storm against his peer and friend Grigor Dimitrov to reach the fourth round of the men’s draw at Melbourne Park.
When you look at the scorecard, you’ll not know how much effort went into the game but Djokovic was certainly tested hard, most specifically in the first set of the Round 3 game. And when he finally got through, the emotions were evident and what we enjoyed more than his shots on court today was his post-match winner’s interview on court, with former female tennis player, Jelena Dokic.
“35 is the new 25” – Novak Djokovic
Before they began talking about the game that just got done, the current coach and former Australian tennis player Dokic decided to ask Djokovic if he remembered where they first met. After thinking a lot, she told him that they met here in 2006 and at the time, she didn’t know who he was. Today, she definitely remembers his name, she confessed in front of the crowds in Melbourne.
Djokovic was quick to change the topic and talk about the game just done, because her questions were too tough for him. Dokic went on to mention that him and Andy Murray are the only grand slam winners left in the men’s draw of the 2023 Aus Open, and whether that gave him a bit more of motivation when up against the young lot of players.

“Young?!” exclaimed Djokovic in return, clearly implying that he’s not old by any stretch of imagination. Dokic then had to correct herself and say ‘younger’ before the interview went on. As for Murray, he lost his Round 3 game a few moments later against Roberto Bautista Agut, making Djokovic the only slam winner left in the men’s draw.
“35 is the new 25” he said after Dokic told him that bot of Djokovic and Murray are 35 years old now. He went on to win 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 against Dimitrov but it was a much tougher match than the scoreline would suggest. He was relieved when he finally got over that line and you can check out his complete post-match interview with Dokic here:

Djokovic entertained millions of fans on court today and then entertained in this humourous video as well. Talking about the game though,he got through but most experts believe he wasn’t moving at his best, which means there’s a high chance he may end up being knocked out before getting his hands on a 10th career Australian Open trophy.
His next assignment is against the local boy and number #22 seed Alex de Minaur and he even joked in the interview about how he thinks he won’t get any support in that Round 4 game against de Minaur. For similar tennis and sports news from around the world, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com.
