IPL 2025: Dhoni Parents in Chepauk Spark Retirement Rumours

Former Indian captain and one of the most successful one’s too, MS Dhoni has been playing professional cricket for more than two decades now. And we all knew that the day would come where millions of cricket fans would shed tears the day he calls it time on his professional career. He called time on his international career in Aug 2020 with a sudden post on social media.

We’ve got to see him for five more years since that surprise retirement, where he didn’t even want a farewell game for himself for Team India. The 43-year old even gave up the CSK captaincy a couple of seasons back, handing the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Today’s IPL 2025 game against Delhi Capitals saw Dhoni’s full family in the stands, sparking immediate retirement rumours.

IPL 2025: Dhoni Parents in Chepauk Spark Retirement Rumours

MS Dhoni’s parents at the Chepauk!

Just to put things into perspective for you readers, we’ve never seen MS Dhoni’s parents at any of his games till date. And they’ve picked a hot, sunny day at the Chepauk, not the ideal conditions if they just came out to enjoy a game of cricket. MS Dhoni has always said that he’d go out on his own terms, so this won’t be a big surprise if he chooses to go out mid season.

In the last game, we saw the former CSK captain struggling to finish off a chase, scoring 16(11) against Rajasthan. He’s been great behind the wickets though, getting a stumping in each of their first 3 games in IPL 2025. We still think he’s the best wicket-keeper in the world, even though his batting prowess has declined over the years.

CSK is struggling so far in IPL 2025 with 1 win in their first 3 games, and it’s not ideal for him to leave his team when their struggling. However, it’s not just his parents but his entire family including wife and daughter Ziva who came out to the Chepauk to watch today’s game. Is it the end or is it just another prank from MS Dhoni?

And if it has to be the last of this legendary cricketer’s outings in the Indian Premier League, the least we can hope for is a victory in front of his adopted home crowd. The Chennai crowd has given him a lot of love over the years, and there will be plenty more showering of love if he walks away from the game after today’s game against Delhi.
