Controversial driving, a lot of penalties, a lot of incidents, a lot of drivers getting knocked out, but all of this led to the perfect Sunday for those who are watching the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship. Today, it was the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and it was the first ever race at this circuit. Those who watched knew there was no shortage of excitement in this race.

Lewis Hamilton began 8 points short of Max Verstappen when this race started at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia and while he was trailing until more than 40 laps, him and Max were at each other’s necks right until the end. Eventually, Hamilton got past the chequered flag first and he said that this was going to be the craziest race he remembered…

The two of them have been having a great rivalry and this was the pinnacle of the rivalry today as there were crashes, safety cars, red flags and investigations. 21 races after the 2021 Championship began, the two are now equal on points on the driver’s standings. Hamilton gained 25 points, Verstappen got 18 and the fastest lap point got him level with Max, now both at 369.5 points each!

It was Valtteri Bottas who recovered to get past Esteban Ocon in the last seconds of the race, finishing on the podium in third place. The first ever race at this circuit turned out to be tricky but very eventful. Verstappen said afteer the race that he may have not agreed with all the decisions in the race, ‘but still second’.
