All Hail SIR Lewis Hamilton!

A few days ago, we witnessed one of the most heart-breaking finishes in the history of Formula 1 racing over the decades. For the first time in 40+ years, two drivers had come into the season finale race equal on points and it was all down to the final race to decide who would be crowned 2021 Formula 1 Champion between British driver Lewis Hamilton and Dutch racer, Max Verstappen.

All Hail SIR Lewis Hamilton!

Hamilton was leading and almost past the finish line when some astonishing decisions by the race manager saw the drivers having to race side-by-side on the final lap. Verstappen with fresh tyres took the lead and won a maiden career Formula 1 Championship, as Lewis was denied a record 8th championship. Buzz on social media said this was one of the biggest mistakes in F1 history!

A wrong decision at a crucial time? Doesn’t matter says Hamilton as less than a week later, he was knighted at the Windsor Castle, receiving the honour of knighthood from Prince Charles at the Castle on Wednesday, 15th December 2021, for his outstanding services and contributions to motorsport.

Hamilton matched Michael Schumacher last year with 7 career F1 titles and the 36-year old will resume in 2022 his search for the new record. While he was knighted by the Prince of Wales in front of his mother Carmen, Lewis became only the fourth racer in the history of Formula 1 to receive this honour, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jack Brabham.

Hamilton will also attend the end-of-season FIA Prize Giving Ceremony in Paris today, 16th Dec 2021, alongside the newly-crowned champion, Verstappen. Possibly one of the best in the game, we congratulate SIR Lewis Hamilton, on this honour that he most truly deserves. For similar updates from the 2022 Formula 1 championship, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com
