BREAKING: Spurs Sack Manager Jose Mourinho

Big news from the world of English Football comes in as we’ve got reports of Tottenham Hotspur FC sacking their manager Jose Mourinho. The announcement has been made a few minutes ago on Monday, 19 April 2021 and this comes just 6 days before the team was supposed to face off against Manchester City in the EFL Cup final.

BREAKING: Spurs Sack Manager Jose Mourinho

The Portuguese manager and coach signed on with Tottenham in November 2019, replacing Mauricio Pochettino at the time. His first season seemed to be brilliant for the Spurs as they rose from 14th to 6th place in the Premier League points table. However, the franchise seems to be struggling in the current season, right now 7th on the points table.

To make things worse, they crashed out of the Europa League as well following a shock defeat of 0-3 against Dinamo Zagreb, being knocked out even after having a 2-goal lead in the first leg. Prior to this, he has also been at the helm of other Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea, enjoying a long reign with the latter where he won the Premier League in 2005, 2006 and 2015.

His last game managing the Spurs saw a 2-2 draw with Everton and now, he becomes the first manager of the 12 founding clubs from the Super League to be sacked. The initial deal signed between Tottenham and Mourinho was until the end of the 2023 season but clearly, that won’t be happening now. While reports have come in, this is yet to be officially announced by the club.
