Manchester United Power Past Leicester City

Did Manchester United need that early goal in today’s English Premier League match up against Leicester City? Yes, they definitely did. A 9th minute goal from Marcus Rashford meant they could play the 1st half with some more confidence and a comfort blanket against an in-form Leicester City line-up.

It was a slight slip up from Ricardo which transpired into a goal, thanks to some brilliant football from Paul Pogba and a finish from Rashford. Both teams had their chances in the first half but it was the away team that went into the break with a goal advantage at the King Power Stadium.

Walk out into the 2nd half and it was the home team, Leicester City, that looked in prime form. They had quite a few chances in the 2nd half as compared to United. However, the Red Devils have someone called David de Gea in the goal, a man who is in prime form and it’s never going to be easy to get past him. A match winner, always!

As for United, we reached the 75th minute and they still had just the one attempt in the second half, but they clearly needed a second goal given the aggression from the opposition. A few free-kicks, corners and open hits on the United goal, Leicester had a number of chances to equalize and even go ahead, but it wasn’t to be.

Rashford, who did his job well, was taken off in the 78th minute, to be replaced by Romelu Lukaku, who made his 300th English football appearance today. They needed a strike in the late minutes and Lukaku was brought on for that as the last ten minutes were a real struggle for the away team.

Once again, Manchester United managed to hold off their opponents in the English Premier League, in a game where they weren’t always the better team. They’ve been brilliant under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer this season, with eight consecutive wins before their 2-2 draw in the last Premier League game during the week.

Today, 4 added minutes after the 90-minute mark and United managed to hold off the aggression, once again. The final whistle went and a large portion of the crowd erupted, showing the popularity of this team. 10 games now without a loss under Solksjaer. However, it wasn’t like they weren’t troubled. Harry Maguire in particular, harassed de Gea in the goal, but United managed a 1-0 victory.

United take a step up in the EPL 2018-19 standings, going to 5th place and they will look to rise up further in the weeks to come. Until then, keep following ReadScoops.com for more updates.
