USA is the most successful team in the FIFA WWC, winning four of the completed eight editions so far, so it’s not surprising to see as many as three players from USA on this top 10 list of top women’s goal scorers. From them, three are still active international players including the topper Marta, as well as her teammate Cristiane and Canada’s Christine Sinclair.

Narrowly missing out on featuring on this list are Linda Medalen (Norway), Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe (both USA), and Alexandra Popp (Germany), all of whom have 9 goals each in this tournament. All of Morgan, Rapinoe, and Popp are active players, so we may very well see them enter this list in years to come as well.

The numbers aren’t as high as the men’s world cup because that tournament has been around for much longer, but we’re sure to see more records in the women’s sport as well.
