Chelsea Tame Tottenham at Wembley

It was a horrible start to Chelsea’s 2017/18 Premier League campaign, losing 2-3 to Burnley FC. Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, had a good start, with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United last week and they were high favourites for this big game as well.

Chelsea would’ve been under pressure after that early loss and playing away from home is never easy either. However, they would’ve been extremely happy when Marcos Alonso found the net from a brilliantly taken free kick halfway through the first half of the game.

This curling free kick put Chelsea in the lead and the shoulders were just beginning to droop for the home team as Michy Batshuayi came in and found the net, giving Tottenham the equalizing goal. He was brought on as a substitute and scored with his fist touch in the game.

However, the Spaniard Marcos Alonso was having a brilliant day, and he ended up putting Chelsea in the lead once more before the full-time whistle, and ending the day as the hero for his club.

The current champions walked away with three points as they won 2-1 and for Tottenham, it was a nightmare of a housewarming. Harry Kane was good throughout the game but was unlucky as one of his shots hit the inside of the post, and came back out. 9 times out of 10, that would’ve been a goal, but not today!

Here’s that amazing free kick in the first half:
