It’s been a good last few weeks for Zimbabwe but the real test begins now over the next week or so as they have a much bigger challenge at hand. After beating Bangladesh in the T20I series and then also in the ODI series, they’re now up against India for a series of 3 ODIs at the Harare Sports Club between 18-22 Aug 2022. We begin with the first of the series in today’s encounter.
India has rested most of their top and senior players but this so called ‘B team’ is still a great one and one that will pose a massive challenge to the hosts. There’s new captain Regis Chakabva in the lower middle order who scored a century in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh and he has a great range of shots too, in case you want another batting option for your ZIM vs IND fantasy team. With the ball, we’re fans of Luke Jongwe’s ability to always be among the wickets, while he can bat when needed as well. India has always suffered against left-arm pacers, which makes Richard Ngarava a good pick today as well.

KL Rahul is back and leading the side but he’s expected to bat in the middle order, so we’re leaving him out today because less time to bat and a lack of game time in recent weeks. India had good opening partnerships against West Indies and we expect that to continue, so we’re picking both of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill who we’re expecting will return for India at the top. Dhawan scored a couple of fifties against WI while Gill missed on a maiden century.

With the ball, Shardul Thakur hasn’t usually been preferred in the shorter formats, so we’re expecting Deepak Chahar to make a comeback to the side after a long injury break. He’s determined to make the World T20 squad as well, so we think he’s got a lot to prove.
