If you are a cricket fan or even just an Indian sports fan, you will remember that historic day during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup where Yuvraj Singh smashed England’s Stuart Broad all across the park for 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6. He was the first to do so in that format and second after Herschelle Gibbs to do it in international cricket overall. In fact, Kieron Pollard only a couple of weeks back became the third to do so!
Batting first, India Legends got off to a good start because of a fine fifty from Sachin Tendulkar who rolled back the years in his knock of 60(37) and soon after him, it was the southpaw Yuvi who decided to get us all nostalgic. He was struggling to get off the blocks initially with 15(13) but it all changed for him in the 18th over being bowled by Zander de Bruyn.
de Bruyn began with a dot but that was followed by four consecutive sixes. When the first one was deposited over long on for a six, the camera panned to a poster that asked Yuvi to hit 6 sixes like he did way back in 2007 against Stuart Broad. Little did we know that there were three more sixes to follow. All of them were as elegant as the shots we’ve seen Yuvraj playing during his days with Team India!

Of course, this was too much of a target for the Jonty Rhodes led South Africa Legends side and India went on to secure a comfortable win of 56 runs, reinforcing their lead at the top of the points table of the 2021 Road Safety Series. And of course, Yuvraj Singh went on to be awarded the Man of the Match for his defining knock!
