At the international level, it’s even more special when it happens, especially when playing some of the biggest global tournaments like the Women’s T20 World Cup, which is usually scheduled once every two years.

Many batters have gone on to win games with extraordinary efforts but similarly, the bowlers have also picked wicket after wicket to help their teams taste success in this tournament. Complete Women's T20 World Cup 5-Fers List

The first edition of the competition took place in 2009 and it didn’t take too long for the first 5-fer, with India’s Priyanka Roy going down in history as the first woman to get a 5-wicket haul in the Women’s T20 World Cup. She bagged magical figures of 5/16 against Pakistan Women in England, becoming the first in this tournament’s history and just the second in women’s T20Is to reach this milestone.

It took 7 years for her figures in this tournament to be better when South Africa’s Sune Luus picked 5/8 in the 2016 T20 World Cup in India, only for Deandra Dottin to better that with 5/5 in the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup. Till date in this competition, there are six 5-wicket hauls which we last updated during the ongoing 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in South Africa. While South Africa and West Indies picked up one each over the years in this competition, India Women and Australia Women are the only teams to have achieved this twice each.

While Priyanka Roy did it in 2009, swing bowler Renuka Singh got 5/15 in the ongoing 2023 T20 World Cup. As for Australia, Julie Hunter bagged 5/22 in 2012 and then Ashleigh Gardner bettered her spell with 5/12 in the 2023 edition. The ongoing edition also became the first one to have more than one 5-wicket haul in a single competition, with still plenty left on the schedule.

Deandra Dottin from West Indies will always be remembered as one of the best players in Women’s T20 World Cup history, as she also features on the list of Women’s T20 World Cup centuries. She became the first to enter that list with the bat and she also tops this list with the best figures with the ball in the competition till date.
