Who Will Win The 2023 Indian Premier League?

After an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in January 2023, another riveting season of the IPL is dawning upon us as the tournament is all set to start on 31st March 2023, with the opening encounter between defending champions Gujarat Titans and four-time winners Chennai Super Kings.

The league will return to its original home-away format this year, following a tough couple of years owing to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 outbreak. The 10 teams have been divided into two groups of five teams each, and the matches will be played across 12 different venues. The IPL 2023 groups have been divided as follows:

  • Group A: Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants
  • Group B: Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad

Who Will Win The 2023 Indian Premier League?

Who will be the IPL 2023 winner?

The venues selected for the 70 League matches of IPL 2023 are Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Guwahati and Dharamsala. The schedule for the playoffs and the final hasn’t been released yet but the league will conclude with the final on May 28. The IPL turned out to be a huge success last year, with two new teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants joining the party, and you can back them or any of them other teams to win IPL 2023 on leading bookmaker, 1xBet.com.

Both teams went on to make it to the playoffs, whereas the Titans went a step further and won the title. Hardik Pandya was quite inspirational as the captain of the Titans. He made an impact with both bat and ball, finishing as their highest run-scorer and also producing a match-winning spell in the final. The Indian all-rounder will be hopeful of delivering an equally impactful performance this year. However, the other teams have also assembled pretty strong squads to deliver their best this season. So, below are 1xBet’s odds for each team and their chances of winning the title in IPL 2023.

Gujarat Titans – odds of 6.3

The defending IPL champions are once again the bookies’ favourites to win the title this season. Gujarat Titans surprised everyone and went on to claim the IPL trophy in their maiden voyage last year. It was also Hardik Pandya’s first year in the league as a full-time captain and he led the team very well.

Pandya finished as the highest run-getter for the Titans and also bowled a match-winning spell of 3/17 in the final against Rajasthan Royals. The Titans retained most of their core from last year, but have made some important additions as well in this year’s auctions. The likes of Kane Williamson, Odean Smith, Shivam Mavi and Joshua Little are some of the notable names who have joined the Titans this season, and they are going to play a crucial role in their bid to win the title again.

Delhi Capitals – odds of 6.95

The Delhi Capitals have been one of the most consistent teams when it comes to making it to the playoffs over the last five years, but somehow they still haven’t managed to win the title. Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant led the Capitals last year, but he suffered some serious injuries in a car accident a couple of months ago, which has now ruled him out of action.

It is a big blow to the Capitals ahead of the IPL 2023 season, but they have an experienced player in David Warner who is capable of leading the Capitals. Their squad is pretty much similar to that of last season. Some key additions include English wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt, South Africa’s explosive left-handed batter Rilee Rossouw, and veteran Indian batter Manish Pandey. They also bought Ishant Sharma, and Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar is a fresh addition as well.

Mumbai Indians – odds of 7.1

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League with five titles to their name. Rohit Sharma has led them to the title in all these campaigns and he will be leading them once again this year. However, they didn’t get the best results last year as they finished right at the bottom of the table. So, fans will be hoping for a much better outcome this time. But they have been handed a major blow even before the season has started.

Their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the season as he is yet to recover from his injury, and as a result, they are left without any experienced Indian pacer in their roster. But they have a pretty good squad overall. The batting unit in particular looks pretty good, with names like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tim David in it. MI also splashed a huge amount to get Australian all-rounder Cameron Green onboard at the IPL 2023 Auction, and they will have big expectations from him. MI is always a favourite and you can register to 1xBet to back them this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – odds of 7.5

RCB are yet to win a title but they have been consistently making it to the playoffs in the last few years, and they will be looking to end their title drought this season. Mike Hesson and co. retained their core from last year, but they have gone on to make some crucial additions this time to strengthen their squad. England’s left-arm pacer Reece Topley and all-rounder Will Jacks are the most notable names among the new additions.

Topley adds some much-needed variation to RCB’s pace bowling unit, whereas Jacks is an excellent backup for Glenn Maxwell. RCB has also picked up a couple of talented domestic all-rounders like Manoj Bhandage and Sonu Yadav, and they will be looking to make a mark in the opportunities they get this season.

Rajasthan Royals – odds of 7.5

The Royals have been one of the most improved and impressive teams in the last few years. The change and improvement were visible when they made it to the final last year. They have a reliable Indian captain in Sanju Samson who leads by example and have some star overseas players like Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer and Trent Boult.

Rajasthan also have reliable Indian bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin, who worked very well as a spinning pair last season. Talented Indian pacers like Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Sen also showed what they are capable of. Among the new joiners, the names of Jason Holder and Joe Root shine the brightest. Holder also increases their batting depth. The Royals are expected to enjoy another good season this time.

Punjab Kings – odds of 8.5

The Punjab Kings played with a very fearless approach last season, but it was still not good enough to help them make it to the playoffs. They finished sixth last season but will be eager to do better this time under a new captain and coach. Their team is pretty much similar to that of last season, but they went big to acquire Sam Curran this time. They splashed INR 18.50 crores to hire him, making him the most expensive player in the history of the IPL.

Star Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has also joined them, whereas domestic talents like Vidwath Kaverappa and Mohit Rathee are also expected to impress. Punjab’s biggest strength this season will once again be their batting line-up. They will look to put the opposition under pressure with their batting strength.

Lucknow Super Giants – odds of 8.8

The Super Giants were one of the new franchises last season, and they also made it to the playoffs. Led by KL Rahul, Lucknow will be looking to go all the way this time. They had a near-perfect squad last season but lacked a quality left-handed batter in their middle order. They have solved that problem this time as they have acquired Nicholas Pooran from the auctions.

Romario Shepherd and Daniel Sams are two other quality all-rounders they have hired for this season. Overall, they look like a very strong outfit and are one of the title contenders once again. Only their bowling might be a concern, as it lacks experienced international pacers. If they can manage that, LSG can expect to go into the knockouts once again.

Chennai Super Kings – odds of 10

CSK also endured a pretty bad season last year. They finished second from the bottom of the table and their weaknesses got really exposed last season. Although their batting line-up is very experienced and boasts of some real quality, their bowling is pretty weak. Things haven’t improved much after the auction this year, as they have mostly signed some rookie Indian domestic players again.

While CSK made the big budget purchase of Ben Stokes for INR 16.25 crores, they could have really used that money to improve their bowling unit. Ajinkya Rahane is another experienced name that joined the CSK setup after enduring a poor season with KKR last time. CSK need their batting unit to fire once again if they want to come up with a better performance this year.

Kolkata Knight Riders – odds of 10

KKR have been one of the most popular franchises over the years, with two IPL titles to their name. They didn’t enjoy a good outing last season as they finished seventh in the table, but they will be hopeful of a much better performance this time around. The Knight Riders will be playing under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer again this year and he will look to deliver better returns with his leadership this time. As far as the squad goes, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are going to be their most important players once again.

The opening slot is expected to change with either Litton Das or Rahmanullah Gurbaz pairing up with Venkatesh Iyer. Lockie Ferguson is also back, adding quality to their pace attack. KKR also traded Shardul Thakur in from Delhi Capitals to add all-around depth to their squad, and it remains to be seen how they fare in the new season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – odds of 13

SRH finished in eighth place last season, but they look like the most well-balanced squad after the auction earlier this year. They have acquired some quality players like Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, and Adil Rashid, who have filled some crucial holes they had in their squad last time. Brook has emerged as one of the best middle-order batters in T20 cricket in the last couple of years, and he will be looking to show his talent in the IPL now.

Agarwal didn’t enjoy the best outings last season as the skipper of Punjab Kings, but he is expected to do much better for SRH this time, now that he has been relieved of the pressure of captaincy. SRH also announced Aiden Markram as their captain for the IPL 2023 season recently. He enjoyed great success as the captain of Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20, leading them to the title in the inaugural edition of the tournament. All these factors make SRH the team to watch out for in IPL 2023.
