Virat Kohli, ABD to Donate Bat, Gloves For COVID Relief

They batted together for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and they could probably be termed as the best batting duo ever. Virat Kohli is said to be a cricketing legend and even a God, while AB de Villiers is not too far behind him either. Both spectacular cricketers with astonishing records, but both also beautiful human beings, always complimenting themselves when batting together as well.

A few minutes back, Kohli and de Villiers went live on Instagram which sent their fans into a tizzy, with a few hundred thousand viewers getting onto the live video in a matter of seconds. It’s been a trend these days that cricketers are taking to Instagram live videos to keep in touch while also entertaining and educating their fans.

Virat Kohli, ABD to Donate Bat, Gloves For COVID Relief

Talking about educating, the first topic they spoke about was obviously the coronavirus lockdown and how both their respective governments are doing the best they can to keep the situation in check. They also got emotional and spoke about the first time they met each other 9 years ago, where ABD mentioned he hadn’t let his guard down the first time he met Virat, and they didn’t hit it off instantly.

Most importantly, ABD announced a massive donation that will help people affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and will help put food on the table for them, in India and South Africa, both. The South African legend asked Kohli to get his bat and gloves from a particular IPL game from the 2016 season to this live video.

The reason was revealed in the video, and the game was one where Virat and ABD both scored centuries in an IPL game against Gujarat Lions, and ended up winning the game by 144 runs. It’s very rare that two batsmen score centuries in a T20 innings and both these legends did it together that day. He announced that the two of them will auction their bats and gloves, along with ABD’s jersey from that game.

It’s even more special because the two played that game on Green Day, where they use green jerseys once a years for an environmental conservation cause. They’ll be using a platform called bidorbuy, a South African platform but one where bidding can be done globally. If the figure is big enough, ABD will announce the winner on his social media and they’ll courier the goods out within a week.

All proceeds from the auction of their gloves, bats and jersey will go towards COVID-19 relief, and you can stay tuned to ReadScoops.com for all updates on how much they managed to raise from these items.
